| Uses
Provides a vivid lemon-yellow color in soft drinks, candy, fruit-flavored desserts, mustard, pickles, ice cream, cereals, and a wide range of snacks and baked goods. Also used in some medications and supplements.
| Precautions
Products containing E102 must carry the EU warning 'may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children' (Regulation EC 1333/2008). Reactions are reported in some individuals with aspirin/salicylate sensitivity and a subset of people with asthma.
| Interactions
Often co-formulated with other synthetic colors such as E110 (sunset yellow) and E124 (ponceau 4R). The same warning label applies to those colors when used together.

Synthetic. Derived from petroleum-based aromatic hydrocarbons through azo coupling.
